Irma Valantinaite, Lithuania - Int. Sales and Marketing
In the beginning when I was considering going here to Horsens to study I was very afraid, because it was a huge challenge for me to leave Lithuania. But now I can't get enough of new challenges. The way we learn things here in Horsens is so different than from what I am used to. Here we are free and the teachers are our friends, they actually listen to the things we say and ask for our opinion. Before no one ever asked me what I liked or didn't like but here I answer that question all the time.
Before I came here I didn't speak English very well and I wasn´t used to standing in front of other people making a presentation or expressing my opinion out loud. Now I speak English all the time and I would love to work in an international company and outwardly being the companies face. At Campus Horsens we work with real life cases and real companies. So I feel very much that I am ready to conquer the world. Just bring it on!
François, France - Mechanical Engineering
I am a French Mechanical student from a city near to Nantes. During my studies we had to make a project, and for those who wanted, we had the possibility do it at VIA University College in Horsens during a 3 weeks period. That's how I heard about VIA. And because I wanted to continue my studies in a foreign country I chose this opportunity. And I was right. Now I'm here to get a double-diploma, which means that at the end of this year I'll get both a French and a Danish diploma. More diplomas, more opportunities!!
The working atmosphere here is very different from everything I've ever experienced. You work actively with many Francois Chauveau IUT St. Malo Franceother students from many other countries, lessons are really practical and useful, the teachers are very friendly and the staff from the international department is very helpful.
So far, studying in Horsens is the best thing I've experienced. I could test and develop my English skills in real situations and make really good friends from other nationalities.
The University also provides access to laboratories and computer rooms at any time of the day and the night, thanks to the student card. And even the city itself, located close to a fjord, is interesting.
Rimaa, Palæstina - ICT Engineering
IT Engineering is a creativity field, I'm saying that because you can always find new information while programming and developing. I'm curious to know what's coming in the later semesters.
At the beginning i faced some difficulties while programming especially when i used to find some errors in my programe(code) but by time i realised that i learned from those mistakes and now i find programming is GREAT FUN!!
Kristaps Rusis, Latvia - Architectural Technology and Construction Management
I am from Latvia and since most of my family has a background as carpenters it was natural that I also had an interest in constructing. Actually it was my mother´s dream to become an architect so maybe I am fulfilling her dream. I don't know. But it has also become my dream now and I am so glad that I came to Horsens to make the dream come true; the education as Constructing Architect is so great.
We do most of the work in groups and that is hard. Everybody can do the work alone but to work as a team is even more difficult. No one can build a house alone. You have to work as a team to get the work done so why not start now when we are studying. Everybody are so friendly here in Horsens and even the teachers like when we ask questions. I guess it shows them that we are interested in the work.
The Constructing Architect programme is not just about the design; you need to know the whole process and also to be focused on the little details. I like to know for example what makes a building strong and makes it last.
When I graduate I would like to go to Africa to help build hospitals and schools. But that is in the future and right now I am just focused on learning as much as I can.
Esther Githii, Kenya - Global Business Engineering
My reason for choosing the Global Business Engineering programme is that to me it stands out as a degree that will land me good job opportunities once I graduate.
VIA was recommended to me by family members who previously graduated from the university college. The Global Business Engineering programme is a tough course, and you have to make up your mind to go for it. What I appreciate is the informal way of life, both in Denmark as such and in class. To begin with, I found it a bit strange. But now I find that is a good and helpful system, especially since it allows you to form good relationships with lecturers who will assist you more as you continue studying at VIA.
I think Denmark is a good place to study. There is a nice, quiet environment which is helpful when studying, and you have a lot of opportunities to learn more about different cultures while you are here. People are quite helpful and you are given a lot of opportunities to work here and to travel if you wish.
Silvana Teofilova - Marketing Management
It was a great challenge for me to come to Denmark; I barely knew anyone or anything about this country. But I am really happy that I did it, because it was and still is a great experience. Now I have the opportunity to go to Australia for my last semester. I am going to live and study in Sydney for 5 months. I am really looking forward to going there and exploring a completely different culture and atmosphere. I would love to meet other people from different nationalities and backgrounds as I have experienced at VIA, because Sydney is multicultural city with population of 5 mil people. It sounds exciting! I believe that the more experience I have in communication the better I will be at performing well in my future career.
Eva Thrastardottir, Iceland - Civil Engineering
A work placement period is a great opportunity for working as an engineer before you choose a specialisation at the sixth or seventh semester and you get a little 'break' after two years in school and the chance to be even more interested in what you are learning because you have had a chance to see how it is used in the real world.
Varun Ramkumar, India - Exchange studerende
One of the great things about the school is that you can get access to the laboratories and the computers 24 hours a day. Furthermore, there are plenty of computers and you can access wireless internet practically everywhere. This makes it very easy to play games during breaks or call your family back home.
Svavar Hafþór Viðarsson, Iceland - Masters Degree in Project Management
As organizations today are getting more and more project oriented, I wanted to further develop my BSc Value Chain Management with the MSc in Project Management. The program provides me an advantage to work in the global business environment of the future.
